A sunset Magic Lantern performance walk will re-enchant and bring to life local wildlife.

Your hosts Frog Morris and Nicole Mollett will use the ancient wizardry of magic lantern to conjure up fantastical tales of monsters, forgotten places and satirical humour. You will not believe the wonders that await you in the watery nooks and crannies of the old Milton Creek…

A sunset Magic Lantern performance will re-enchant and bring to life local wildlife. Through analogue projections the natural habitat will talk directly to the audience, who will walk around the park guided by a storyteller. This performative walk will incorporate ideas and hopes of local participants from a daytime eco-slide making workshop. The artists will invite participants to asks questions about climate change and local young people will draw natural spirits and plant-life onto paper slides to be projected as part of site-specific celebratory event.

The free drop-in slide making workshop will take place on the Sunday 19th Sept before the performance (10am-1pm outside Room at Milton Creek, see flyer below).

The performance walk will begin at Room mobile space, which is right next to the childrens playground in the centre of Milton Creek country park. Places are free, but we are limiting numbers to ensure Covid safety, so you need to book your free ticket. The performance is suitable for children of all ages, but as the projections need darkness to to seen, we are holding the event just after sunset. Parents with small children need to be responsible for their own safety, unaccompanied children will not be able to take part without an adult or guardian.
