Great Fire of London

Fire-of-London--Slide-1

The Art of the Magic Lantern will be marking the 350th Anniversary of the Great Fire of London on 3 – 4th September 2016.

Only a few days before writing his famous account of the Great Fire of London, 17th century diarist Samuel Pepys had written of seeing his first Magic Lantern show in London.

For this special event, the technology time will be used to recreate the Great Fire.

Join us for a spectacular light show and history lesson amongst the building where the fire took places.

Witness the great buildings of our capital swallowed by flames, only for the ashes to be swept away and the streets to be rebuilt even more wondrous than before.

Hand painted artwork and rare antique photography of London will move through the historic architecture of the city as the Magic Lanterns tell the story of this great city and those who live there…
